We seek an experienced and motivated Jobsite Assistant to join our dynamic team at Inco Building System. The Jobsite Assistant performs various tasks on a construction site to assist in the daily operations. Their primary responsibility is to assist the Superintendent and Lead Carpenters.
- The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, at the project location.
- The applicant must hold a valid NC driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Salary for the position is preset and determined by candidate experience.
- The Jobsite Assistant will report directly to the Construction Manager.
- Jobsite Assistants perform various duties on a construction site to assist in the daily operations.
- The Jobsite Assistant will work on assigned residential and commercial construction projects.
- Jobsite Assistants are always the first on-site worker each morning, and the last to leave each evening, and are always accessible by email, phone, or text.
- Across all assigned projects, Inco Building System Jobsite Assistants assist the team to deliver successful projects on time and under budget.
Safety Skills Development of the Jobsite Assistant:
Jobsite Assistants are expected to learn, understand, and practice safety practices and applications, including, but not limited to:
- Jobsite Safety: Safe Work Environment. Safety Habits. Daily Safety Checklist.
- Safety Awareness: Identifying potential hazards and taking appropriate precautions to eliminate or minimize them, as well as educating the entire safety team.
- Safety Committee: Assisting in workplace safety enhancements by reporting unsafe conditions, participating in safety training, and making suggestions to improve safe working conditions at all times for all workers.
- Safe Operation of Tools and Equipment: In this training program, workers learn how to safely use, and operate the tools and equipment they use every day, and work around on a daily basis.
- Safety Tools and Equipment: Jobsite Assistants are expected to learn and use essential safety tools and equipment every day on a construction site, including: hard hats (head protection), safety glasses (eye protection), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), safety gloves, safety shoes or boots (foot protection), high-visibility clothing, and fire extinguishers, all considered part of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Skills Development of the Jobsite Assistant:
- It is expected that an Jobsite Assistant will learn, understand and progress while they work around, and/or be involved in a wide range of tasks at the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities of the Jobsite Assistant:
- As part of their work, they load and unload tools and building materials, assemble scaffolds and other pieces of equipment, tamp or compact excavated areas and dig and backfill dirt.
- The jobsite assistant should have a positive attitude, the desire to learn and grow, and the willingness to assume increasingly responsible and independent roles.
- It is imperative that Jobsite Assistants are able to work independently within their capabilities and to complete all tasks assigned to them as soon as they begin their duties.
- Inco Jobsite Assistants are committed to working hard and developing their skills, as well as moving up to open positions within the company.
- When on Inco jobsites, Jobsite Assistants agree to cooperate and work with Inco team members in a cooperative and productive manner.
Daily Tasks and Assisting Jobsite Assistant:
- As part of their work, they load and unload tools and building materials, assemble scaffolds and other pieces of equipment, tamp or compact excavated areas and dig and backfill dirt. Set up, take down, and prepare work areas on a daily basis
- Pickup and storage of tools and equipment on a daily basis
- Clean-up and organization of work areas on a daily basis
- Materials and Components Organization
- Covering and protecting building materials and components
- Handling and moving building materials and components
- Providing assistance with the framing and erection of steel and wood building materials and components
Required Skills for a Jobsite Assistant:
- Jobsite Assistants must possess basic math skills, have experience using hand and/or power tools, be able to coordinate their hands well, be physically fit, pay attention to details, and be willing to learn from experienced personnel.
- Excellent communication abilities
- Ability to read and interpret.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Education:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma as the minimum requirement.
- Optional: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or extensive experience in construction, design, finance, and management required.
- Related technical Certifications, Coursework, Continuing Education
Experience:
- Verifiable Experience is required for this position.
- One-year minimum experience with a building construction company.
- Option: One-year practical experience commercial construction jobsites, preferably Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) projects.
Physical:
- As part of their work, they load and unload tools and building materials, assemble scaffolds and other pieces of equipment, tamp or compact excavated areas and dig and backfill dirt. Reaching frequently above shoulders and below the waist.

- Works regularly near heavy machinery and moving equipment.

- Motor vehicle operators who operates equipment safely.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds at times is required.
